At the time of the sultans Abdallah al-Ghalib and Ahmad al-Mansur, when the Saadians ruled Morocco, Marrakech flourished and became the center of the region. The kasbah (royal city) was completely renovated and new gardens and palaces have been created. Also the necropolis was built directly at the Kasbah Mosque.
Those efforts were not without reason: as Sharifs – descendants of the Prophet – the Saadians stood above the religious laws and also above the Ottoman Caliph. However, their ascendancy was doubted and the Saadiens were constantly attacked by the religious leaders. In order to silence the critical voices, the Saadians reacted “in the language of the monuments” and erected their masterpiece: Marrakech.
Hallöchen Anita !
Die Moschee ist fast wie ein Abbild von der Hassan II Moschee in Casablanca.
Die Mosaikgebilde sind einfach unglaublich faszinierend.
