The legal obligation is fulfilled on the German version of this blog. The English version is to provide my English readers some general information, but does not reflect the legally binding descriptions in German language.
I hope that I cover everything here, but in case you would like to have even more details, please let me know. I am happy to introduce you to all available procedures and policies of this blog. Also, if you have recommendation to improve my privacy policy, please don’t hesitate to contact me!
Who I am
The website address is: https://apropos-blog.at
The website is hosted at Raidboxes and solely operated by myself: Anita Pacher, Austrian resident.
I try to avoid to collect any of your data as this is much easier than having a procedure for everything.
Still, I would like to know how many people visit the site, so I use google analytics which uses your anonymized IP address.
What personal data I collect and why I collect it
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address. For anti-spam protection I use the service of Akismet. You can find their privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy/
Cookies
If you leave a comment on this site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Why this is important: I embedded a social media tool bar (link to facebook), so Facebook will be able to track your visit in case you have an account there and you are logged in.
Data Policy
How long I retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue (in the future when I will have millions of visitors).
What rights you have over your data
If you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where I send your data
Visitor comments are checked through an automated spam detection service (Akismet). Their server is located in the US, so your data is sent there.
How I protect your data
The website uses an SSL certificate. SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer and it is a technology that uses the encrypted connection between server and web browser. In order to use SSL, businesses have to get an SSL certificate, which they need to install on their server. When this is done, every connection between a web server and browser is encrypted, which means that every data sent via the submitted form is only visible to the web owner. This helps to protect online users against hackers, who try to steal users’ information. (ah, you see: I googled this information, and you are super-safe :-P)
Available Procedures
In case I realize any breach of the data protection, I will check what happened and who is impacted. I will definitely call for support of WordPress and Raidboxes. And once it’s confirmed that there was really a breach of the data policy, then I will contact you and publish also a blogpost about the breach. Of course I will do everything to prevent any data leaks.
For further information please check the German version of this site or contact me directly.
