How are you doing?

I have been asked a few times how I feel – whether I meet many people and how I like the trip so far. That’s why I thought, I’ll write a short post about it.

I have not met so many people, I usually spend my days alone. The longest discussions I had so far were with my hosts. (Women traveling alone are obviously quite rare).

There are several reasons for this, but above all, it’s because I spent a lot of time on the Croatian coast – and there are currently mostly classic summer vacationers on the move: families or couples who want to spend their holidays together in peace. The willingness to talk and openness are rather low. Currently I am in Bosnia Herzegovina, and here the travelers are clearly different. Most of them do day trips or round tours, the people are more interested in each other and therefore it is easier to start a conversation.  (By the way I met the Turkish film maker Faruk Aksoy who warmly invited me to Istanbul).

When traveling, I feel better when I have a separation between travel days and sightseeing days. In addition, I like it better when I can separately focus on the blog / self-reflection / travel preparations / etc and sightseeing. When I combine too many things on one day, somehow, nothing feels right. Therefore, I try now to take this into consideration for my further stops.

Yesterday I made my first spontaneous stop (the next article is already in preparation) and that turned out to be a brilliant idea. So despite all the planning, there must always be room for a few deviations 🙂

In general, I would say that I still have to get used to travel alone. I really enjoy that I do not have to compromise with anyone else and I don’t mind eating alone or spending the day without company. What I miss are friends with whom I can talk about the trivialities of everyday life, share funny oopsies or have a short chit-chat. That’s why I’m really looking forward to meeting my sister and Katharina in August. 🙂

And? What about you? Do you enjoy the summer?
